Shortly after Warner Bros. moved up the film’s theatrical release two months earlier than planned from May 21 to March 26, the studio pushed back its domestic release by another week. Now, “Godzilla vs. Kong” will hit theaters and streaming service HBO Max simultaneously on March 31. The monster mash-up will be released internationally, where HBO Max is not available, ahead of North America on March 26.

As part of the date announcement, Warner Bros. has put James Wan’s horror film “Evil” back on the schedule, setting the thriller for Sept. 10.

The latest “Godzilla vs. Kong” postponement came in response to news that MGM is moving the James Bond sequel “No Time to Die” from April 2 to Oct. 8. Sony’s “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway,” also set for April 2, has been pushed back to June. With most films pushed back to early 2021, “Godzilla vs. Kong” will open Wednesday ahead of Universal’s action thriller “Nobody,” starring Bob Odenkirk.

Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind “Godzilla vs. Kong,” recently reconciled with Warner Bros. after the studio threatened legal action for sending all of its 2021 films to streaming service HBO Max on the same day they hit theaters. Legendary was frustrated that Warner Bros, its frequent collaboration partner, had previously blocked Netflix’s $250 million monster movie bid. The two companies have apparently ironed out their frustrations and agreed on a release strategy that satisfies both sides.

Adam Wingard directed “Godzilla vs. Kong,” the fourth installment in Legendary’s monster universe following “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein penned the script. The upcoming crossover – starring Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry – pits the otherworldly giants against each other in an epic battle.

The Warrens might tackle the devil in “The Conjuring 3”, but paranormal investigators are not candidates for 2020 either.

The third episode starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, scheduled for release in September 2020, has been postponed to 2021 due to the global situation.

At least we know that the third film, officially titled The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, will be about the actual trial of Arne Cheyenne Jackson (more on this in a moment), and that there has been a change behind the scenes.

It wouldn’t be a Conjuring movie without Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, so the third film wouldn’t happen if they didn’t return.

Of their return, Patrick Wilson told The Hollywood Reporter, “The process [of shooting Conjuring 3] was fantastic, and it’s a very different feeling. It’s still the same bones; it’s still very much Ed and Lorraine.

“Again, we’re pushing our characters to places they’ve never been before, but the movie will be a really nice addition because it’s definitely a different beast. Pun intended.”

Aside from the two leads, we could expect a reunion with Sterling Jerins as Warren’s daughter Judy, but the two previous films have focused on different families, so more returnees are unlikely.

We do know that Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard have been confirmed to be part of the cast, though their roles have yet to be officially confirmed.

We wouldn’t rule out another appearance of the troublesome Valak – played by Bonnie Aarons in all the films – even though Lorraine banished the demon to Hell in the climax of The Conjuring 2.

The official synopsis reads, “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” reveals a chilling tale of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocks even seasoned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

“One of the most sensational cases in their archives begins with a battle for the soul of a child, then takes them beyond anything they’ve seen before to mark the first time in American history that a murder suspect has pleaded demonic possession as a defense.”

The title refers to the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who pleaded not guilty to murdering his landlord, Alan Bono, claiming he was possessed by a demon when the crime occurred.

The Warrens were implicated because they were involved in the exorcism of David Glatzel, which involved the same demon Johnson claimed to be possessed by.

The third film will feel different than the other Conjuring films simply because there is no haunted house in sight, but it was important to Wan that they keep the inspiration real.

“All the Conjuring movies are based on the case files, so they rely more on the real history aspect of the Warrens. I think that’s important. It’s important that the Mothership stays true to the inspiration of real people,” he explained.

“In the spinoffs, we have more fun and do crazy and wonderfully weird things. The Mothership that is the Conjuring movies, we want it to be real again.”

we had the pleasure of speaking with Vanessa Kirby about her experience shooting the film, especially when it came to shooting the harrowing birth scene in one take. In addition to preparing for release and a potential awards season with this film, Kirby has also been busy shooting Mission: Impossible 7.

As excited as we are to see the latest installment in the franchise and learn more about the film’s plot, we took the opportunity to focus on her experience working during the pandemic. Since COVID-19 will change the production process for months – if not longer – we asked Kirby about his experience shooting a film while adhering to the new protocols. Here’s what he had to say:

The public got a taste of how strict the process is on M:I 7 when an audio recording leaked of Tom Cruise berating crew members for not following the new COVID-19 guidelines. In Kirby’s case, he had someone close to him to show him the way before he had to get used to this new film process: his sister:

“My sister is also a member of the film crew. She’s an AD. She was on the first movie that was remade, Jurassic World, back in July, I think, so I got to see her do it, and it was such a wonderful time because the industry had to close and the theaters closed; to see movies being remade and people being able to work was a really beautiful thing.”

While Kirby expressed that sentiment in a much more understated way, it’s also what Cruise meant during his on-set outburst when he told crew members:

“We’re the gold standard. They’re in Hollywood right now making movies because of us. Because they believe in us and what we do. I’m on the phone at night with all the damn studios, the insurance companies, the producers, and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies.”

I can’t even begin to imagine the challenges of getting such a large production safely off the ground right now. So if films like Jurassic World: Dominion and Mission: Impossible 7 are creating jobs and showing others a possible path forward, then I have to agree with Kirby’s statement in that regard; seeing filmmakers get back to work is a beautiful thing and a much-needed sign of hope for the future of filmmaking.

Jurassic World: Dominion has made it to the finish line of principal photography in November 2020. Mission: Impossible 7 is still in the works, but Paramount still has a November 19, 2021 release date on the calendar for the film. Venom 2 is one in a long line of blockbusters that were scheduled for 2020 and have now been delayed until next year, because even Tom Hardy’s antihero wasn’t immune to EVERYTHING happening.

But when Sony decided to announce the sequel’s delay, at least they also gave us the official title – Venom: Let There Be Carnage – in a teaser video so we could spend the wait speculating about what to expect.

While it sounds like a good title, not all fans were on board for the very specific reason that they wanted the movie to be called Maximum Carnage, which resulted in a major plot point from the comics being brought to the big screen.

As we mentioned earlier, the sequel was pushed back from its original release date of October 2, 2020.

Venom 2 was supposed to precede Morbius on July 31, and then the Jared Leto film was pushed back to March 19, 2021. But Venom: Let There Be Carnage was also pushed back to June 25, 2021 in the UK and US.

Filming began in November 2019 and seems to be completed in April 2020. So let’s hope there are no further delays to the June 2021 release. Not if director Andy Serkis has anything to do with it.

“I started editing and then we had to shut down. The editor flew back to the States and I edited remotely,” Serkis explained in May 2020. “It’s not a bad thing because we can spend more time on visual effects, and ultimately it’s probably better for the movie.”

Hopefully the sequel makes the question mark about her relationship with Eddie at the end of the first film a period. Or an ellipsis. Or a more positive punctuation mark.

But more importantly, Williams hopes She-Venom gets equal airtime in the sequel.

One of the new additions to the cast will likely be Naomie Harris. Although not 100% confirmed yet, it seems very likely that the James Bond star will play the villain Shriek in the Venom sequel.

National treasure and frequent Tom Hardy pal Stephen Graham has been confirmed for the Venom sequel, but his role has yet to be confirmed. Thanks to Tom Hardy’s Instagram, we also got our first look at Woody Harrelson’s Carnage.

Killing Eve star Sean Delaney confirmed to Insider that he has a “very, very small role.”

“In terms of what I’m playing in it, I can’t say anything about it,” he added. “In terms of how it relates to the story, it’s really cool. It’s really, really cool.”

In addition, Sony has a number of superhero movies in the works, so perhaps Morbius (Jared Leto), Silver Sable, Black Cat, Silk, Nightwatch, Jackpot or one of Spider-Man’s other allies and enemies could make an appearance.

Especially since Spidey was also seen in the Morbius trailer….

As for a Spider-Man cameo, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said a crossover is “likely at some point,” while producer Amy Pascal is a big fan of Tom Holland but did not specifically say Holland would star in a Venom movie.

James Gunn has assured fans that they don’t need to have seen the previous film to enjoy “Suicide Squad.” Gunn is both the writer and director of the upcoming film, which is the tenth installment of the DCEU. Suicide Squad will be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.

The Suicide Squad is a popular concept in the pages of DC Comics and became known to the general public with the release of the 2016 film Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer. While the film was a financial success, grossing over $746 million at the worldwide box office, it was panned by critics and fans alike, with the studio interfering so heavily that many, including the film’s stars, called for Ayer’s cut to be released. Gunn jumped on the “sequel” in 2018, and while it’s still in continuity with the previous film, it doesn’t seem to be required reading to see its part.

Suicide Squad brings back some fan favorites from the prequel, such as Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney). This provides a small connection to the previous film, while allowing Gunn to fill out the rest of the cast with new characters who have no connection to the previous film’s adventures and who viewers will meet for the first time, including Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) and Peacemaker (John Cena). With a focus on new characters and a Peacemaker spin-off series for HBO Max, Warner Bros. is positioning this as a new departure for audiences.

The marketing around Suicide Squad has done a lot to highlight the difference in approach between the upcoming film and its predecessor. Ayer’s film borrows heavily from the 2011 New 52 relaunch of Suicide Squad, while Gunn has cited the influence of John Ostrander’s 1980s series in the title. Gunn’s film will have an R rating, unlike the two Guardians of the Galaxy films or Suicide Squad, which were all PG-13. With a new cast of characters, an all-new style, and a bloody R-rating, Warner Bros. hopes James Gunn’s incarnation of the season will be able to appeal to fans of the 2016 film, those put off by the previous installment, and new viewers who skipped the previous film with a fresh approach.
