It was Shah Rukh Khan’s contribution”: Karan Johar ends the line debate on Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
Karan Johar revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s line “I love blue” in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was actually a suggestion by the actor himself.
Filmmaker Karan Johar has shared the story of a line from his 2006 film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. He revealed that the line “I like blue” was actor Shah Rukh Khan’s contribution to the script as he “had an abstract feeling about it.”
On Sunday, film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi shared some images to participate in the #BlueTwitter trend. “Quoting Dev (@iamsrk) from KANK by @karanjohar, I like blue!” she tweeted. However, another Twitter user commented, “Errr was Rani’s dialogue. Not SRK’s.” But Rathi replied, “No! SRK says it first in the station scene! And then Rani says it in front of Tumhi Dekho na! PS: I love this movie!”
Soon Karan joined in and revealed the real story behind the line. “This was SRK’s contribution to the scene! There was something abstract about it that made it special,” he wrote. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna also starred Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. The film was about failed marriages and adultery.
Seeing Karan’s reaction, many asked him to do a movie with Shah Rukh again. “Make movies with him. Those were your best days, Karan. Stop chasing every remake from the south just for commercialism. Give us memorable films like you and SRK did. Carry on the legacy of Yash ji, otherwise Bollywood is just remake wood now,” tweeted a fan. “Plz make another eternal masterpiece movie with SRK,” wrote another.
Shah Rukh has not signed any projects since the failure of his 2018 film Zero. There have been many reports that he is in talks with several directors and producers, but the actor has yet to announce a film.
