We know this sequel won’t be called Spider-Man 3 when it’s all said and done. How it will be used is just one of the MANY questions we have as the sequel gets underway.
As soon as the term “multiverse” was mentioned in connection with Spider-Man, fans began to imagine a live-action version of the animated Spider-Man. Into the SpiderVerse, in which Tom Holland would finally interact with the two actors who previously played Spider-Man on the big screen: Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
If Sony can properly build its own live-action Spider-Verse with the help of other films, they could reach a point where Maguire and Garfield are needed to face villains they’ve encountered in their own films. Like Jamie Foxx’s “Electro.
We come to our final question about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3, and that is whether the film will tie into Venom: Let There Be Carnage or Morbius. And I think it will, because Sony wants to establish a version of the Sinister Six that includes their own villains.
The film is scheduled for release in the U.S. on December 17, 2021. It was previously scheduled for July 16, 2021, but was pushed back to November 5, 2021, before being pushed back again to a December 2021 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be part of the fourth phase of the MCU.
